About Western Training Services

Western Training Services (WTS) is just the second terminal-based ADR training centre in the UK.

Based at the Matford Business Centre on the Matford Industrial Estate, it is the only approved online training facility of its kind in the south of England; the other Scottish Qualifications Authority/Driving Standards Agency-approved facility is in Manchester.

WTS is owned by Del Haggerty, Managing Director of The Freelance Coach Drivers Team Ltd “together the 2 companies compliment each other very well and WTS has a very bright future”

Daniel Lavery is the Director of Training who is a qualified Department of Transport Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor and he also holds instructor & examiner registrations with both ITSSAR and ALLMI

Also among the team is Charlie Haggerty, Finance Director.

WTS can offer swift Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training and certification, as well as easy access to a range of courses and accreditations that are a legal necessity for the haulage/driving and construction industries, including:

  • Association of Lorry Loaders Manufacturers & Importers (ALLMI)
  • Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) & Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) driver training
  • Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
  • Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register (ITSSAR)
  • Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSA) training & consultancy services
  • First aid
  • Transport Manager CPC for both national & international operators in the haulage & coach industries

The CSCS examinations, which are required by every tradesperson to enable them to access a construction site, are usually taken on a mobile testing unit that comes to the South West on a six-week rota. WTS can offer testing and immediate results at its Exeter-based training centre. WTS has capacity for 14 delegates per session. All courses must be pre-booked and paid for in advance.
